Healthy Kids, Healthy Scores

Healthy Kids Healthy Scores (HKHS) explores the question Can Denver Public Schools (DPS) implement and sustain a replicable, economically viable urban agriculture model focused upon supplying all its own fresh fruits & vegetables. The HKHS study is aimed at identifying the components of a school district’s food system and what options DPS has in becoming a self-sustaining, district-wide system. The study examined the land available for farm sites, food processing assets/capacities, legality of business agreements, and provided an economic analysis to determine which model would provide a cost-savings for DPS, while providing all of the district’s students healthy, local produce choices.
